December 26, 2025

As this year comes to a close, we have some updates about the garden project. First, the plants that we added to the upper courtyard in April 2025 survived the heat of the summer and are now starting to go dormant for the winter. We are so grateful to Mykle Williams ’26, who helped us keep them alive with consistent watering over June, July, and August.

This fall we have completed phase 2.5, an alternative lawn in the upper courtyard. Under the guidance of Kimberly Reeves, Director of Sustainability, student volunteers removed the top layer of soil and growth in the smaller of the two lawn areas on the east side, designed for outdoor sculpture. They have reseeded it with a native grass mix. As of today, we can see the sprouts! We will work on the other side of the courtyard in the spring, intended for the outdoor theatre.

Our project once again appeared in the Re:wild Your Campus Annual Impact Statement.
